Summer

I haven’t updated my blog since the exhibition… Here are the paintings I’ve done since in order.

First I painted a portrait I had been planning to do since August last year.  My main goal here was to try and let watercolor happen. I have a hard time letting watercolor do what watercolor does. I am not sure how successful I have been.

After this, I worked on a commission I received right at the exhibition opening. This nice lady came to the opening night ready with a photo for me to paint from. She asked that I add a black cat to the painting and cherry blossom trees in the background.

Then while out on a school field trip with my son, one of his classmates looked up at me and said “can you paint me?”. So, I did after I asked her mom if that’s okay.

I painted this next one for myself because I wanted to. This little girl is so cute, I just really, really wanted to paint her. I didn’t ask for permission, but I did give the painting to her mom afterwards.

I have been painting my son’s teachers at the end of every year, so here is this year’s teacher.

Christmas rush

December came and I have procrastinated and now I’m behind in what I wanted to get done before the end of the year. There’s still time though. I can do it.

Great-grandmother

One more painting after this and then I’m free of commissions and I can work on whatever I want. It’s been two months now since I’ve done a painting for myself. I really like this painting. I did a good job if I say so myself.
