My name is Ana-Francisca Haas. I started drawing as soon as I held my first pencil. The walls of my childhood room were full of stick figures and flags. At the age of 9 I had my first artwork in a gallery – it was a painting of a pig on a farm. I won two art prizes in grade 12, but I went on to study mathematics at Simon Fraser University. Afterwards, while working as a programmer, on the side I experimented working with inks, charcoal, oils, acrylics and watercolours and I attended life drawing classes at community centres. As a young adult I found inspiration in Dali’s work and artists I met online and created a lot of surreal art. After the births of my sons, I found that what I like to paint best are portraits in watercolour.
The portraits are painted on high quality Arches paper.
